Bruker FM: MIR-FIR/THz Spectroscopy in One Step

Bruker FM: MIR-FIR/THz Spectroscopy in One Step
Distributor and Service Provider In India

The Bruker FM technology is a revolutionary solution for FT-IR spectroscopy, enabling researchers and scientists to capture mid-IR (MIR) to far-IR (FIR)/terahertz (THz) spectral data in a single measurement—without the need for manual optical changes or interruptions in purge or vacuum. Designed for the VERTEX 70v and INVENIO research-grade FT-IR spectrometers, this innovation eliminates the traditional requirement of switching multiple beamsplitters or detectors. The result is seamless, real-time acquisition of comprehensive molecular vibrational data across the entire IR spectrum. We are your trusted Bruker FM: MIR-FIR/THz Spectroscopy in One Step Distributor and Service Provider in India.

One Scan, Full Spectrum: How Bruker FM Works

Bruker FM combines a wide spectral range beamsplitter, a wide-range DTGS detector, and the standard IR source to extend coverage from:

  • 6000 cm⁻¹ to 50 cm⁻¹ on VERTEX 70v
  • 6000 cm⁻¹ to 80 cm⁻¹ on INVENIO

This allows researchers to perform transmission, reflection, and ATR measurements across the full IR spectrum—in a single scan.

Advantages of Bruker FM Technology

  • Complete spectral range (MIR–FIR/THz)captured in one measurement
  • Time-efficient:no need to interrupt workflows for optical changes
  • No venting of purge or vacuum systems
  • Prevents damageto sensitive optical components
  • No complex exchange mechanisms required
  • Humidity-resistant optical components
  • Ideal for all sample types—solid, liquid, or powder

Key Application Fields for Bruker FM

  • Inorganic & Organometallic Chemistry
  • Semiconductor R&D
  • Polymer and Pigment Analysis
  • Geological and Mining Research
  • Pharmaceuticals: Active Ingredient & Polymorph Characterization
  • Crystallinity Studies
  • Product and Material Quality Comparison
  • Low-Temperature Matrix Isolation Spectroscopy

Polymer Filler & Pigment Analysis

The combined MIR-FIR/THz spectrum is essential for full material characterization in polymers. While the mid-IR region (4000–400 cm⁻¹) reveals organic structures, the FIR/THz region (below 400 cm⁻¹) detects lattice vibrations and heavy-atom interactions—crucial for identifying inorganic fillers.

Polymer Filler & Pigment Analysis

Benefits:

  • Analyze polymer composites in one scan
  • Use dedicated FIR-MIR spectral libraries for easy identification
  • Gain insight into both organic matrix and inorganic content

Polymorph Differentiation in Pharmaceuticals

Different polymorphic forms of the same compound may vary in bioavailability and physical properties. Bruker FM enables rapid polymorph screening with:

  • MIR region: detects fundamental molecular vibrations
  • FIR region:reveals crystal lattice and backbone vibrations

Application Example:

  • Identification of sulfathiazole polymorphs in antibiotics
  • Supports routine quality control and advanced R&D in pharma

Inorganic Minerals & Geology

For inorganic samples, especially those involving heavy atoms, key spectral bands fall below 400 cm⁻¹. Bruker FM enables:

  • Simultaneous MIR and FIR measurement
  • Use of Platinum ATR with diamond crystal for simplified sample prep
  • Advanced ATR correction in OPUS software for accurate FIR comparisons
 Inorganic Minerals & Geology

Application Example:

  • FIR-ATR analysis of calcium carbonate and other geological materials

Bruker FM ATR Spectral Library

To support full-range analysis, Bruker has developed the first MIR-FIR/THz ATR spectral library, covering 4000–30 cm⁻¹. This comprehensive database allows:

  • Rapid identification of polymer composites, minerals, fillers, and more
  • Creation of custom ATR libraries tailored to your product range
  • Accurate search and match for both MIR and FIR spectral data
